Freelance Outdoor Adventures acquired
one of the best Boone & Crockett Grizzly Bear areas in
the state in 2005. Our hunting area is in Northwest Alaska
where 25% of the bear we have harvested have made B&C.
Our bears come in a variety of color phases with mature boars
reaching the 8 ft. mark.
Our new hunting area is located on the Shaktoolik River which
drains into Norton Bay, south of Nome. The bears in this area
have a variety of color phases with mature boars reaching
the 8 ft. mark.
HUNT
ITINERARY
Our hunts begin mid May and go until the
middle of June. Guests arrive in the town of Unalakleet where
our pilot will meet them. Pen Air has daily flights that go
directly from Anchorage to Unalakleet. If weather conditions
permit, we will try to get our hunters straight from Unalakleet
airport right into camp. Once in camp, a game plan will be
devised depending on all kinds of variables.
Our hunts are all conducted
in a backpack manner. We will have a tent base camp at the airstrip,
but if needed we will have the ability to put camp on our backs
and spike out for multiple days. These hunts can be physically demanding,
so having yourself in good shape is a plus.
Once your hunt is complete, we will
have the Super Cub transport you back to Unalakleet where
you will connect with your return flight back to Anchorage.
We will take care of the entire process of field skinning
and salting of your bear hide and skull, and arrange for
an expeditor.
